The HTC Windows Mobile that I have recently bought has got quite a lot of flaws. No wonder, it runs on Windows. I am hoping to find a way to install linux in it pretty soon. The problem is that by default, when the phone is not in use, it has to go to the stand by mode, and the screen is automatically turned off. But that is not really happening here, as I m having to put it into the stand by mode automatically. If it doesnt go to the standby mode, the phone is getting heated up and the battery drains quickly. I dont know for now whats the chemistry behind that and what all systems remain on and what all are off in the standby mode.

I did fuck around with the settings of the phone yesterday afternoon for a while when I had nothing else to do, and I dont know what I have done to get the auto standby turned off. Since yesterday evenining I have started to notice this, and last night I just left the phone on my desk before I went to sleep, and found out this morning that the phone’d display was on all night and the phone was hot and the battery was alarmingly low. Why? It received a call at around 11 PM, and I didn’t pick it up.

This is quite dangerous for the phone. The display could get damaged if left unattended for longer periods of time. And the heat could damage the phone even more. And HTC has got no decent service centre in the country, and ultimately I might have to wind back to an old fashioned phone again.
