We know the history, pocket watches were reduced to wrist watches with tiny precision mechanisms, and when quartz came along it was made even smaller. Metal watches had leather straps, and stainless steel watches became a mandatory fashion accessory. I tie a watch around my wrist only for fashion purposes and I check the time on my computer screen or on the phone, I don’t remember the last time I checked my watch to find the time.
