Youtube was started by that chinese guy who couldnt find a medium to share a video he shot at a party. So he just went ahead and made it into a social networking site, which gave birth to the podcasting boom. Looking at the numbers in the check that google gave them to buy out the company, there have been several other websites on the internet that name themselves tubes, hoping that google would buy them out too one day. As of now they are monetizing their traffic with advertisments. Everyone who has a camera to record decent videos are now podcasting on youtube. Most of the times a video would be completely worthless. You don’t get to see high quality lessons there, I have managed to see only stuff like how to enhance your cleavage or how to get a girl and stuff like that. I have seen videos about fish, but nothing so valuable in there. People just use it to pass time. Well, thats what social networking is all about isnt it. Billions of idiots blabbering bullshit.

But a person who is concentrating on his careers wouldn’t really waste time on a social networking site, but would rather do some job searches or search for video resumes that are there on youtube.

People who were running their sites with static web pages are excited to run their sites with dynamic components in it and a database. They could go for joomla if they want a content management system, or they could go for OS commerce or anything thats like that if they need a shopping cart. But people fascinate themselves by developing a site for themselves. And when they do such things without any experience, they do everything wrong. They dont give an index key in the database, and this would mean that comparing every data would consume a lot of time, and a lot of server resources.

When we admins find that a particular site is overloading the database, we take the appropriate action, and negotiating with the client that though his site is small, the processing resources that its consuming is high, they will not understand.

It is better not to worry about such programmers. And always maintain a high price for your hosting and give people who know what is what some quality support, and make sure that they dont do bullshit on your servers like this.

What are you looking at? A forum, a blog? Or a business website with dynamic content? You have pre defined software for all of these, and you could do without a designer.

Well, there are places where you get free hosted forums, blogs and joomla sites, where you could get your site hosted for free, and just get a domain and point it there. Thats the easy way of doing it. But you have no control of the blog that you have with them, and if they for any reason which they dont normally disclose block your blog, all your work is wasted. So, I always recommend that you host them somewhere, where you have full control over your files, and can do any customizations and modifications that you need.

Get a web hosting with cpanel. Dont go for any high end hosting plans like the ones offered by hostgator, you could do better with them only if you have numerous blogs to host, that consume a lot of resources. You could go for some small 5 or 10 gb plans that supports a good number of add on domains, and can host your domains in there, which comes with a cpanel with fantastico, from which you can install anything you need for a website. A blog, a forum, other content management systems, and a whole array of other software which you can enjoy playing with.

And, it is alway sbetter to have everything on your own domain name and on your own web host that is different from the IPs of the free providers for better search engine rankings.
