A lot of companies claim to offer low cost health insurance
, but few deliver. Although finding the best and walking away from the rest will require some homework and research, it can be done.

Shopping for the best low cost health insurance will require a computer with an Internet connection or a telephone book and a poised and ready dialing finger. Along with these things, a notepad, pen and calculator are very good ideas to have on hand.

Before calling or applying online for different forms of health insurance, it’s a good idea to set up some criteria for the insurance policy desired. This will enable the comparison of apples to apples to try and find the best overall coverage for the most reasonable rate.

The things to consider include:

* Policy type. This means health maintenance organization, HMO, preferred provider organization, or PPO, or catastrophic coverage, which generally just covers major hospitalization issues.

* Deductible. How much money are you willing to pay out each year before the coverage really kicks in? This can range from as little as nothing up to $5,000 or more.

* Premium. How much can you afford or do you want to pay out each month for premiums?

* Co-pay. Do you desire a plan that will offer a co-pay structure for regular doctor’s visits? Do you want that co-pay structure to kick in before the deductible has even been met?

* Maximum exposure. Beyond premiums and co-pays, is there a limit you’re willing to pay up to on an annual basis before the insurance kicks in at 100 percent? Not all policies offer this stopgap figures, but anyone with a fear of a big emergency might benefit from this feature.

When a good, basic idea of what is desired has been determined, it’s time to start looking for the best prices. It might not be possible to find exactly the same coverage down to the last detail in each location reviewed, but it should be possible to stack them up closely enough for comparison.

Jot down the coverage offered, the monthly premium rate, the out-of-pocket limits and the deductible amounts paid from each location before making a final determination. It’s also not a bad idea to:

* Examine co-pay plans very closely. The $30 a doctor’s visit co-pay might sound like it offers great savings, but if it’s $200 a month more than another option look closer. It is possible the doctor you want to use offers a contract rate for a different insurance company. If that rate happens to be $40 a visit, that extra $200 might just not be worth the price of admission.

* Look at the total bottom line. Consider a worse case scenario. How much would you spend in premiums, the deductible amounts and other expenses with each plan if the worse happened.

* Available doctors. If doctors you like or want to use are not available, the “best” low cost health insurance might not be the best.

Finding the best low cost health insurance can be done, but it will take some homework. Try to compare apples to apples where possible and look at the options very closely. What seems like the best savings, might turn out to be the worst.

Traditional methods of backup like optical or tape backup are very effective but they need capital to setup and staff to operate them. An online backup is free of such problems.

Online backup provider offers software, which has to be installed on the computer. This allows the user to select the backup files, takes care of Internet connection, encrypts and compresses the data and transfers it through the Internet to a secure remote location. The prominent advantage of using online backup is the disaster recovery offered by offsite storage and is easy to use.

Another advantage is that online backup can be done even at odd hours because the providers work round the clock, 24×7. Most importantly, online backups decrease the amount of media needed to keep track of, since much of the backup storage is offloaded to the offsite storage. A person need not purchase new equipment and there are no ongoing media costs, staff costs and so on. The running costs are also meager. Setup and installation of the software is quite simple and can to be downloaded in a matter of a few minutes.

Data recovery is also very fast since the user need not search for the right tape or wait for the staff to recover the lost data. Online backup is automatically completed so that after the process is over, the backed up files can be accessed by anyone (with permission), thus enabling file sharing with traveling colleagues, clients or home PCs.

But the limitations of online backup are that it fully depends on Internet connections and therefore requires permanent broadband connection to handle significantly large volumes. Also, the initial backup will take a long time because a complete copy of the data must be encrypted, compressed and copied. Once initial backup is complete, subsequent backups will only backup the files that have been changed, making the process faster. Since online backup companies compress the data and do only incremental backup, it may sometimes decrease the value of the backup and increase the restoration time.

Though a third party holds the invaluable data in online backup, in reality, they are quite safe and secure because before being transferred, the backup data is encrypted to a military grade -128 bit level. Therefore it is impossible for anyone to intersect or decrypt the data except for the user.

The data storage center is also reliably secure, which has invariably class- A facilities equipped with fire suppression, security cameras, personal access control, electricity generators, mirroring techniques and what not. In fact, the storage premises are far more secure than the client’s own premises.

Online backups can be a valuable addition to the data protection but cannot be a replacement for manual, onsite backup.

I want to buy a second car. An SUV would be nice, but I dont want to pay for that from my bank account. I would like to go for a loan. A loan will help me a lot in the Income Tax area, and wont set me back in my bank balance. But I cant buy just any vehicle, I need a vehicle that I would prefer, i might want to look and test drive a lot of models before I can narrow down on one final model.

Once you are done with that, you need to find a company that provides loans for any model that you like and not for some few particular modes, and not at all like those people who persuade you to buy only the few models that they deal with. No. For that purpose, up2drive, a company that specializes in Auto Loans for all models is a great choice. Their website is up2drive.com and that site features a auto refinance calculator among various other features.

You would do well keeping your support system in a completely isolated place. But if you are starting off small, and are keeping everything under one roof, including sales, and support, isolate sales from support. Give support most priority. Keep them on an isolated intercom circuit. Give them the best power backup. Have more than one internet connection for them, even if you have a best internet service provider’s connection in your region.

Install seperate local servers for the sales, billing and the support teams. Always keep them on seperate LAN connections on seperate internet connections. You wouldnt want your sales people to know which client is having problems, and your support to know how much sales is being done. Though support people may guess that from the number of new accounts that are bing created, it is best to keep them all isolated.

Provide seperate PCs for each of your staff. If you have 3 support guys, one working on each shift, give them an induvidual PC, 1 for each, and dont let them share a common PC. They should be able to access the details and everything that they need from a common server to which all support PCs are connected. There is no point in having more than 2 shifts for sales, so they might as well share PCs.

Though you are confident about your network installation, wires can get disconnected at any time. So it is always best to connect your PCs thru wifi. Atleast you will be able to switch to another ISP line immediately if you have problems in one.

Make sure that you get only a Split AC, that comes with a seperate outdoor unit, so that people can save themselves from the noise that the AC produces.

Seat your staff very close to a loo, so that they dont spend too much time wandering to the loo once in a while. Also, have an office attendent or two, who would bring refreshments directly to them, so that they dont have to take the excuse of walking to the coffee machine ever half hour.

If you have got loadshedding in your area, or if your area is a victim of a very frequent power blackout, it is best to go for a sinewave UPS, as running computers on Generators is not advisable. You could however install generators for the ACs and lights.

This should do, to start up a small scale office for providing web hosting services

I have been using the same modem for about a year now, and for the past few days since I got my unlimited data transfer internet connection, I am surprised at the work that it is doing. Im downloading all sorts of stuff, and my computer is plugged to a 2 hour backup power supply as well, and Pondicherry not being a very bad place wehre power goes down for over 2 hours at a streatch, the computer and the modem have literally been running for over 2 months at a streatch now since july 1st when my plan changed to unlimited 512 kbps from 2 Mbps limited.

If you are outside India, you might laugh at this cos probably you might be on a 10 Mbps connection while reading this, but in India owning a 512 Kbps connection is like owning a Rolls Royce. I sit before this computer for about 6 hours a day, and therefore the AC runs here for 6 hours a day, and for the remaining 18 hours, the door is locked, and so are all windows, and the heat is almost unbearable when I enter the room in the evening after office. No AC, no ventilation, and all the heat that is released by the cpu and the modem have no means of getting out of the room.

Well, anyways, I am quite happy with the performance of the modem, as I know that the computer has to perform, after all it is a server quality cpu that I have got, and the monitor is always turned off, as I use it only when I am working on the PC. The modem is working in its full effecienty round the clock for the past 2 months, during which time it has not been turned off even once, and BSNL too has been able to supply data all this while (i think i am sure that there has been no downtime or anything), though at the office it is a different story.

BSNL, known as DoT previously, is the oldest telephone service provider. About 10 years ago the government decided to privatize all telecommunications, and thats when new companies like touchtel came up. Touchtel provided DSL way back and provided excellent services in the metros. Everywehre eles there was only BSNL or VSNL dial up connection.

About 4 years ago BSNL launched its broadband service, and it gave boradband access to rurla india where no one could think of the private broadband connections. It has a good back bone of telephone lines drawn all over the country, and that line has been used for broadband too, and therefore, BSNL did not have much to invest into, and so at a cheap cost they set up the broadband service.

The money that was used to lay these lines all over India was by charging people heavily for local and std calls. About 10 years ago, the call rates are not what we see today. It will cost you upto Rs 50 a minute if you wish to call someone who is just about 30 or 40 kilometers away from you. Now you can call all over India for a rupee a minute.

Well, when they had less investment to make, why don’t they provide a better service? BSNLs broadband is only good enough for homes where people login to check emails and waste bandwidth watching movies and stuff. Bloggers like me can do quite well with it, but not as a software guy. No, BSNL is not a good connection for a software company.

I have been downloading things from the internet for several years now, and the only internet connection that I would say is up to the mark is Airtel Broadband. I have endorsed them for quite some time now, as the connection never goes down. I have been running the internet for days and months together without stop downloading and uploading torrents of data, and now I miss airtel badly. Be it a search for crib bedding , or to download a 4 dvd software , that has been the best always.

BSNL is popular just among home users, and it wins so many award just because it serves users who dont really know how an internet connection should be, how consistent it should be in serving data and stuff. In my opinion it just sucks.

Spammers have completely reduced the value and respect for Online Pharmacies unfortunately. I have a gmail id that is quite popular, and even in gmail, which has the very best spam protection in the world, I find a few mails sneeking into the inbox. When I open them, I find that they are from fake “Blow Up” companies, offering drugs for enlargement, elongation and pleasurization and stuff. Its all crap. You place the order secretly, and you never get the goods, or get goods that arent worth the money, and you cant complain cos of the shame.

But there are certain online Pharmacies that are trust worthy. Pharmacies that sell everything that they are supposed to sell, and not just the enlargement, enhancement and elongation drugs. Edrugstore.md is one such site. They have a very decent Ask a Physician section, with a FAQ area.

Business these days works purely on mails. Except for the so called conventional businesses such as trading cement and pipes for construction at very low levels, emails may not be used, but anyone and everyone has got an email id, and a computer with an internet connection. The internet has become a place that has a highly growing demand for bandwidth, with the growing number of computers attached to it.

Free emaiils are suitable for induviduals. Everyone provides you with a free mail box and monetizes yoru mails with their advertisments in the footer. Gmail is a bit decent, hey dont attach any ads in the mail, but you could see ads in the inbox, ads from adsense, once that are relevent to the contents of the mail. Its not just once or twice that I have clicked on the ads displayed on google, and I have returned a considerable amount of money to google for their providing me with a free mail box.

Corporates dont like ads on their mails. And they cant send out mails from free mail boxes. So even if they dont have a website, they spend $10 a year to get a domain name and park it in some hosting. The best that a linux hosting can offer for free is smart mail or horde. And if you wish to switch isps, switching mailboxes would be a problem. Whats the best way to keep your mails safe and permanant?

Go for Google Apps. At google.com/a, you can get an unlimited number of free mail boxes to your domain name, and all you need to do is to change your MX entries as required on the hosting side, and no matter how many times your HSP’s server goes down for any reason, your mails are safe, and not a single mail would be bounced. Also, google offers an ever growing mail box, so you do not have to delete another mail. And, above all, to the best of most people’s knowledge, true spam blocking is offered only by google. Not a single message that you wish to be on the inbox gets into spam. And if you try to send spam, with 500 ids in the BCC field, they will block all your mails, and it will not go out, and you will not get a bounced report. So no one gets affected. If you over do that ofcourse you will be blocked.

When you change ISPs, you just need to add the MX records for google, and its very easy to do in a cpanel hosting, just follow the instructions there, and your mails will not be damaged in any ways. There will be ads in the free edition, as no one can give you anything for free. Even if you dont click on it, they will manage with the money that you get them for the impressions, and there is another package where they offer you a fully loaded account that will cost you $50 a year per user id, which includes phone support as well apart from several other things. And it gives you a lot more space as well. If you think you cannot tolerate ads, just pay them $50, why why pay, when you can get it all for free? A few ads running on the right side should not distract you much right?

And even if you pay this $50, you will find that its a lot cheaper from any mail server thats available outside. And google is always reliable, and there is not a single downtime that I have seen in their mail servers, and u ca use this account for ages and ages to come without any fear of loss of data or anything at ll. And the best of all is that your mail box size would be ever growing

Linux, especially ubuntu, is the best operating system that you could install in your computers at your office if you are running a hosting company. No point in getting Windows, paying for the license, getting bugged, and get it resulted in a weak server maintenance or admin work done.

For Windows servers, naturally, you use the remote desktop. Use the terminal services client, enter your servers IP, and a window opens asking for the username and password, enter that and you are logged into the remote desktop of your windows server. Do you find it not as good as the remote desktop client on your windows PC?

Here we go. Terminal services Clinet is a lot stable than windows remote desktop client. It never gets hanged, or refuses to come out of the remote desktop, leaving you in the middle, and forcing you to log out of the administrator and cancelling all your running applications on the server. You can always close the window to exit and log back in to the same session. Yes, windows remote desktop client is designed to do the same too, but it doesnt work very well. I have seen that myself.

And to connect to your linux servers, though there is putty for linux as well, you dont really need it except if you want to run any command or execute anything. For basic file operations, you could directly connect to the file system with ubuntu and do any file operations as required. With putty, you cannot transfer files from local machine or vice versa. Or maybe I have not come across the command for that.

You can stay connected to linux servers with your linux computers for days and months together if your internet connection or power supply for your local machine doesnt give you away, and you will find that it is completely stable, and not like windows which, as the world knows, will not run for more than 24 hours at a streatch.
