Pen

A pen is a writing insturment and any and every learned man would use. Anyone must use a pen atleast once in a while, to pen down his signature. And offering pens as gift with your logo printed in its body is the best way to market your brand.

There are loads and loads of ultra low cost designer pens available in the market, and when ordered in a bulk, the cost per unit along with your logo printing would cost less than half a dollar per piece. You could use these marketing pens for any occassion. Lets say, in a workshop, where you could distribute these with notepads, hotels can give them away while requesting a signature from the guest on bills, give them away in malls, and give a pen to anyone standing in a queue anywhere, it means pure brand promotion.

Pensrus.com offers a wide variety of low cost pens such as Papermate and Bic at ultra low costs, and print your logo on it, keeping the prices of most models under half a dollar. And that makes it a very good idea to use marketing pens to promote your brand or poduct.

Trapped in an Amway “Meeting”

I had an appointment with my lawyer yesterday to discuss some paperwork at 7 PM, and he had asked me to come to 40, 2nd Main Road, Rajaji Nagar. He told me that this is an office that he rarely visits, and that we could meet there since its close to my house as well. Unfortunately, even after spending about 4 years in Pondicherry, I dont know where which nagar is, and have got absolutely no idea about their inner geography and the road names of these places. I just follow the signboards and ask around for directions and dont really bother to remember them for next time.

Rajaji Nagar is adjacent to another big place called Avvai Nagar. And that too has a 2nd Main Road. This I didnt know. Thanks to the dimly lit streets, and my poor eye sight, I didnt want to stand in the middle of the road and looking hard at the board and read them in the low light (I get embarassed at times doing this, bad eyesight you know) so I decided to ask around. One guy said the 2nd main road is in 1 direction and another said its in another direction, Circling here and there, I finally reached a 2nd main road, and asked people there if it was the 2nd main road, and when they said yes, I just asked for No. 40 and went straight in that direction and parked my bike outside. I did notice quite a bunch of bikes and cars parked outside the house, and I thought that the lawyer was busy and might not have much time for me.

An old lady opened the gate for me, and I wondered who was living there in a lawyer’s office. She asked me, “Are you here for a meeting?”. I said yes, and took her direction to go upstairs and sit. When I went upstairs, what I saw was a group of people sitting in chairs facing a white board, and a man was addressing them. Two Tube Lights were placed on the floor against the wall vertically, and the man who was addressing these people had a military look in him, and the lighting effect made him look like an underworld leader, instructing them about the next loot. Cool contacts the lawyer has got, I thought. I couldn’t see who was sitting where, and when I caught the attention of the man who was addressing the people, I called out my lawyer’s name and if I could meet him. The man couldn’t recognize him, and asked me if he was a doctor. When I said he is a lawyer, he said “Oh yes, lawyer, lawyer, yes sorry I forgot, he comes here often but he has not reached yet. Why dont you sit down till he arrives?”

I said ok and sat down. What the fuck is this place. Is this a class? Are these people here to learn law? And where is the Lawyer’s office? This is a fuckin open air terrace with temporary lights. This is no office, maybe the lawyer wanted to meet me here, as he was giving a lecture here or something. so I decided to wait.

As the meeting went on, I heard a lot of “Business Oppertunity” talk from the person who shook my hand when I had entered, addressing the crowd. Oh dear, not another scam. It was about Amway. The lawyer had intentionally made me come there and will next try to force me to join him. Well, it is just a matter of Rs 1000, and if the lawyer wants me to do that, I wouldn’t hesitate at all, and I thought he knew that. After all, I respect him, he doesnt have to send me to a meeting like this without letting me know that this meeting is about Amway, and to make me join.

People there kept on speaking about passive income, loosing your self respect and working for Amway, following the bible where Jesus said that you should show your other cheek when someone slaps you in one, feel no shame, sell amway products, make the company rich, get about 21% commission for the over priced products that no one would buy, and feel happy about it. Wasted about 1 hour sitting there. Didn’t see my lawyer coming.

At about 8.00 I got a call, and since I didnt want to disturb the crowd, I moved away to receive the call, and it was my lawyer. Particularly to my lawyer and my auditor, I try to show off my punctuality always. If they ask me to come at 7 PM, I reach there sharp at 7, not a minute early, not a minute late. Thats because I respect them. And my life depends on them. If they dont take care of me properly, Im dead, which is just the case of any business man anywhere in the world. But today, the lawyer called me and asked me why Im not there yet. I said Im already there and you have not yet arrived. There was a moment of silence.

“Where exactly are you?” he asked.

I said “No. 40, 2nd Main road”.

“Thats where I am,” he replied.

“At the Amway meeting?”, I asked. ”

WHAAATTTT???” he shouted. “AAAAMMMMWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY??????????????????????”

I said I’ll call him back in 2 mins, dropped the line, and asked the man who was addressing the crowd in a loud voice, “Where is this place?”. He said it was 40, 2nd Road, AVVAI nagar.

I dropped on the chair. I have been sitting on a broken plastic chair for an hour listening to all the stupid theories of Amway in a dimly lit terrace with a bunch of old men and fat women who had nothing else to do just because I couldn’t read sign boards myself and had to ask around to passers by, and clearly got misguided. I got so mad at the guy who made me sit down. I just looked at him and said, ” Is this the way you gather people to join your crowd? My lawyer is yelling at the name Amway. You really know him do you?” He just stood there silent, and I walked away immediately.

When I had left, Im sure that he would have said something to compensate for his insult to the crowd. I dont understand why people take these false hopes given by these people to make money with Amway, when there are so many other things that you could be doing?

The lawyer laughed loudly when I finally told him the whole story.
