If you can generate electricity from the atoms that are invisible to the naked eye, you can make electricity with air as well.
You see, all that you need is a rotational energy, from any source that is available. You just need to spin the shaft of the generator if you need electricity from it. In open land in many places around the world, you can find wind farms, giant fans spinning in the air to produce electricity.
If you think that my reviews stink, you can always click on the title to find out what Wikipedia has to say about it.
Wind Farms
Induction Generators, mounted on a thick pole attatched to a huge 3 blade fan thru a gear system can be found in large herds at wind farms.
As it is connected thru a gear system, if you are into mechanical engineering, of if you have owned a Geared Cycle, you might know that when a bigger gear tries to spin a smaller gear, it will take a lot of energy initially, and once it picks up speed, it will be fine, and the conversion of energy is good.
Thats why these wind power systems are installed with Induction Generators. The generator, is ideally an Induction motor, and when it rotates faster than what it is intended to, ie. the sync frequency, it generates electricity, and feeds it back to its supply cables, and thus acts as a generator. The Fan blades are given the initial spin when the generator acts as a motor, and then the wind takes over to spin the fans and when the speed of the rotor of the induction motor exceeds the sync frequency, it starts generating Power.
The speed, as in other alternators, is the key to the frequency sync, and the voltage, and that is monitored and maintained by microprocessors that control the fans speed so that a perfect match is there when the generator is connected to a Common Bus.
