We left the airport, got on to a highway, and the driver took a shortcut, that rode alongside the seashore, and I was completely lost. My brains stopped working, I heard nothing, I felt nothing, all I could see was the beauty of the sea hitting on the rocks from the road on the cliff on which we were driving. I suddenly got into a trance. I couldnt even think of getting my camera out and capturing a picutre of the place. The setting sun was magnificent.

Thru the winding roads that were climbing up and down from Dabolin Airport to Sangolda, where I had reserved my hotel, called Belle Vista Wado. It is a remodeled Portuguese building, has got about 10 rooms and 2 suites. It was a cool hotel. Since the size of the hotel was small, the staff were also little in number, and they were all extraordinarily friendly. Maybe that is something that comes naturally comes with the Konkani people, they are all very friendly and hospitable.

I checked in and was shwon to my room where I unpacked and took a shower, and called the reception and asked for a rickshaw to go to the beach. It was dark already, and I dont like to drive much during the dark, particularly when its my first time on some road.

They did offer me a Honda Activa which I could use for a rent of Rs 150 per 24 hours, but since I insisted that I needed an Auto Rickshaw since it was my first evening and my first time at Goa, they got me one. The Auto Rickshaw driver charged me Rs 150 to take me to the Baga beach from Sangolda, If I had taken the scooter, I could have traveled to all the beaches nearby and could have come back, and could have driven it for the full of the next day too just by filling some petrol into it additionally. The total cost would not have been more than Rs 250.

The rickshaw climbed downhill, and got onto the highway, and started moving slowly towards the beach. I started to get bored as all other vehicles kept overtaking us, and when he asked me where to go, I asked him to drop me off at some Dance Bar near the beach where we could drink and dance. In India, Dance Bars are usually places where men come alone and drink and dance to the DJ’s music, and is unlike discos which are restricted only to couples.

I was determined to stick only to beer throughout my stay at Goa, and I didnt want to take even asip of vodka. I wanted to enjoy Goa to the fullest. The auto rickshaw driver dropped me off at Tito’s, a very popular hangout for people at Goa, and after the Rickshaw wala left, it turned out that it was a disco that they were running and there was no dance bar, and I was not allowed inside, since I was on my own, and there was no girl to accompany me. Well, it was easy to find a girl for the disco in the beaches. I didnt want to get into that, since it doesnt really suit me. Im better when Im alone, and would rather not be spending time with strangers anyways.

So I just decided to walk down to the beach.
