The day that is supposed to be the first day of the year in the Tamil and Malayalam Calender falls on April 14th of every year. Since 2008 has been a leap year, it is on the 13th.

Kerala people call this day vishu. Elder people give younger people money in the early hours of the day,a dn the younger people visit bars in the afternoon with that money to cleebrate the new year with that money. Thats what bad boys like me used to do. The good boys, undoubtedly, save the money, put it in banks, and keep it safe for the next 40 years so that the money can be passed on to the children.

The only thing I like about Vishu is that I get to see a lot of Malayalam movies in the TV all day, with pretty girls presenting shows in tratitional Malayalam clothes etc.

I woke up at around 8.30, went to the kitchen and found my wife making some sweet dish, surprisingly having bathed this early and looking very traditional. I found a 50 paisa coin lying around somwhere, and gave it to her and said happy vishu.
